In this research work, the electrochemical behavior of catalase/cadmium oxide nanoparticles/carbon paste electrode (CPE) was studied by cyclic voltammetry. A carbon paste electrode was modified chemically using cadmium oxide nanoparticles. Direct electron transfer of catalase (CAT) in the modified carbon paste electrode with cdo Nps was achieved easily. Electrochemical investigation indicated that a pair of well-defined quasireversible redox peaks of CAT heme Fe(III)/Fe(II) was obtained with the formal potential (EO) located at -0.155 V (νs. SCE) in pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution (PBS) 0.1 M. The fabricated CAT / CdO NPs/ CPE showed good electrocatalytic ability to the reduction of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which exhibited a potential application in fabricating a new kind of third generation biosensor. In case of the latter, an improved dispersion of the cadmium oxide nanoparticles upon electrode fabrication may greatly enhance their performance in biosensor activity.
