Growth and optical behavior of Co(II) doped ammonium nickel sulphatehexahydrate crystals by gel technique

Single crystals of Co (II) doped ammonium nickel sulphatehexahydrate (ACNSH) were grown by single diffusion gel technique in silica gel media.As grown crystals were employed for different characterizations such as XRD, FT-IR & UV Spectroscopy.The X-ray diffraction studies show the crystal lattice to be monoclinic in nature.Lattice parameters found to match with JCPDS data for ammonium nickel sulphate. Presence of sulphate group and water molecules was identified from the FTIR band assignments. The ACNSH crystal has high transmission efficiency at UV region and absorption at visible band.
