Pulmonary Hypertension Symptoms and Diagnostic Procedures

Chandra Ram

Pulmonary hypertension is a type of elevated blood pressure that influences the arteries in your lungs and the right side of the heart. In one form of pulmonary hypertension, called pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), blood vessels in the lungs are bringdown, obstructed, or destroyed. The impairment decelerates the blood flow through the body of lungs, and blood pressure in the lung arteries rises. The heart must work harder to pump the blood through the lungs and body. The extra attempt equally causes heart muscle to become sick and fail. In some people, pulmonary hypertension slowly gets very bad, and it can be life-threatening. Although there is no cure for some types of pulmonary hypertension, treatment can help bring down symptoms and improve the quality of life.
